Lock & Lock Storage Containers

Best food storage containers for leftovers

pros
  • Leakproof
  • Lightweight
  • Can nest with the lids attached
  • Inexpensive
cons
  • Tomato sauce can stain
  • Plastic contains BPA

When it comes to leftovers, Lock & Lock food storage containers are top-rated in expert reviews. Experts say these food containers are truly leakproof and extend the life of produce and other foods by blocking out air. Furthermore, they are easy to use and inexpensive. The lids are secured with four hinges, so they're extra sturdy for commuting. Containers can be stored with the lids partly attached, cutting down on clutter. However, bisphenol A (BPA) is used in these plastic containers (BPA is a chemical that's been linked to health risks in animals), and in some tests, tomato sauce stained them, particularly after being microwaved. Although the Food and Drug Administration says that BPA in food-storage containers isn't a health risk, you can find plastic food-storage containers that don't contain BPA; glass containers are another option.
