The Frigidaire AFFC1466D is one of the chest freezers included in Consumer Reports' roundup of 15 chest and upright models. There are a few owner-written reviews at Epinions.com, and these comments provide useful information for those who are considering this model.

This Frigidaire model is one of the few self-defrosting chest freezers, but as with upright freezers, a self-defrost option boosts the price over similarly sized manual-defrost chest freezers, including the highly regarded Whirlpool EH151FXR (*est. $450). The Frigidaire freezer has 13.8 cubic feet of space, an interior light, a power light, a locking door and four baskets. It is not Energy Star-rated, so electricity costs in the long term will be a bit higher compared to an Energy Star freezer. This Frigidaire chest freezer is a good performer, but it takes some knocks in reviews for noise, and as with all chest freezers, it can be harder to load and unload than an upright.

2. Epinions.com

The two owners who review the Frigidaire AFFC1466D are not too happy with this freezer. While one likes the fact that it is self-defrosting, both have problems with the freezer working on a consistent basis. Both complain about Frigidaire's poor customer service. Without more user reviews, however, it's hard to draw any sweeping conclusions.
