Among small travel steamers, the Steamfast SF-435W doesn't garner as much attention as the best-reviewed Jiffy Esteam Travel Steamer (*Est. $75), but at half the price, it's a good value-priced alternative for travelers. It's named a best bet by Bestcovery.com reviewer Jerry Arlen, who says it's effective for its size, but best for occasional use only. The SF-435W is also tested by Slate.com writer Laura Moser. She ranks it second after the Esteam, noting that it's a good option for its price, but notes the lack of an on/off switch and temperature controls
User reviews also indicate that the SF-435W is a good value for a travel steamer. Users at Amazon.com say it's lightweight and easy to use, although some say it struggles with heavier fabrics. With only 12 minutes of steam time (the least of all the steamers we found reviewed), the SF-435W can only be used on a few garments at a time. Some reviewers say the Steamfast model broke after a few months, but it does come with a one-year warranty. This steamer requires distilled water. If you don't need to travel with a steamer, the larger, but still handheld Joy Mangano My Little Steamer (*Est. $20) is a best-reviewed pick.

Laura Moser tests six travel garment steamers and the Steamfast SF-435W comes in second place with 28 points out of a possible 40. She calls the design "primitive," since it has no on/off switch or temperature controls. She praises its small size and the ergonomic design. She also says the nozzle of the steamer reduces drips. She says, "for the price, you can't go wrong with this unobjectionable little machine."

Reviewer Jerry Arlen recommends five garment steamers, including the Steamfast SF-435W. He says it's very simple and reasonably priced, but really only meant for occasional use. It doesn't have a lot of power, he notes, though it does get the job done -- as long as it's for occasional use only.

The Steamfast SF-435W and Jiffy Steamer Esteam are the highest-rated travel steamers on Amazon.com, though the Steamfast comes in at about half the price. About 100 owners comment on this model, giving it an average score of 4 stars out of 5. Generally, reviewers say the steamer is lightweight and easy to use, but they don't all agree on its effectiveness. While some say it's worked for them on all types of fabrics, others struggle with heavier fabrics. Some users do say their steamer stopped working after a few months, but most feel the SF-435W is a good value.
