Last year's pick, the Brinkmann 810-8410-S, has been replaced by the 810-8411-5 (we contacted Brinkmann, who confirmed that it's basically the same grill with a new name this year), and reviewers say its performance is comparable to that of the earlier model. In a comparison test, the inexpensive Brinkmann gas grill ranks below more expensive Weber grills, and durability is also a question mark. Still, it's feature-laden for the price, including four stainless-steel burners, a side burner and a warming rack. There's even a bottle opener, a beverage holder and a utensil rack -- but no thermometer. This grill is sold at HomeDepot.com, but a similar Brinkmann grill, the 810-1415-W, is available at Walmart.com. If you're willing to spend more, the three burner Weber Spirit E-310 (*Est. $520) should be more durable, but it doesn't have as many extra features as the Brinkmann grill.

We found only two professional evaluations of the Brinkmann 810-8410-S, one at ConsumerReports.org and the other at About.com. User comments at Walmart.com address overall performance and potential problems with long-term use.

1. ConsumerReports.org

ConsumerReports.org puts gas grills through rigorous testing, rating them for even heating, ease of use and more. Editors include the Brinkmann 810-8410-S but note that it has been discontinued and point to the 810-8411-5 as a similar model.

2. About.com

In his review of the Brinkmann 810-8411-5, the About.com guide to barbecues and grilling describes it as a "full feature gas grill at a discount price." However, he notes that it probably won't hold up over the long term because of its "reliance on low quality material and lightweight construction." 3. Walmart.com

About a dozen owners review the Brinkmann 810-9415-W, which is very similar to the Brinkmann 810-8410-S gas grill. Most say it's a great value for the money and is easy to assemble and keep clean. However, other owners complain about problems with the gas regulator and igniter, as well as flimsy construction, short lifespan and damaged parts.
