Expert opinions are split about the Kenmore 4-Burner LP Grill w/ Searing Burner; it is named a best buy by a highly credible research organization, but another expert gives it just 2.5 stars out of 5, and says that "while this grill may look good in the store, it isn't worth even this low price." On the whole, however, the Kenmore grill stands out in its price range for performance and ease of use, but you'll want to be sure to treat it gently (keep it clean, dry and covered). Made by Permasteel Hardware for Kenmore and sold only in Sears, this grill has four main burners (a total of 48,000 BTU), plus a 13,000-BTU side burner and an 8,000-BTU searing burner. It has 493 square inches of primary cooking area, and a total cooking space of 667 square inches. For the price range this grill occupies, these are good specs.
The biggest concern we found -- the use of sub-standard components -- isn't uncommon in this lower end of the pricing spectrum for gas grills. That complaint aside, many owners say this Kenmore grill cooks quickly and evenly. They also like how it looks in general. A few buyers, however, complain of panels that arrived damaged, and one expert warns that the fasteners used are prone to rust. If you're willing to invest more up front to ensure a higher quality grilling and ownership experience, reviews indicate the Weber Spirit E-310 (*Est. $500) is an excellent value, though it carries a price that's around $170 higher than the Kenmore grill.
