Reviews say Legacy Family Tree 7.0 Deluxe is one of the best genealogy software programs for most PC users. You can download the basic standard edition for free, and if you later want more advanced features, you can unlock them by upgrading to the deluxe version. The deluxe program includes Legacy Charting Deluxe software, which can create colorful wall charts. Most professional and user reviews say Legacy is as easy or difficult as you want to make it. As with most top programs, you can seamlessly import Genealogical Data Communications (GEDCOM) files, and you can create books and web pages. If you're particularly concerned with accurate and customizable source documentation, RootsMagic 4 (*Est. $30) may be a better choice. Mac users should check out Reunion 9 (*Est. $100), which gets the best reviews.
