T3 Featherweight 2 Dryer

Professional hair dryer

Pros
  • Reduces drying time
  • Improves hair's texture
  • Multiple heat settings
  • Cool-shot button
Cons
  • Heavier than expected
  • Uncomfortable handle

Bottom Line

Purchasing the T3 Featherweight 2 will be an investment, but reviewers agree it's well worth it. Both owners and experts say its advanced technology helps the Featherweight 2 dry hair in about half the time of a standard dryer. Many owners are shocked at how soft their hair feels after blow drying. One vice: The Featherweight 2 isn't as light as expected.

Performance

Cuts styling time in half. The T3 Featherweight 2 makes several major claims that it lives up to: It will dry your hair in half the time of other dryers, making it feel soft and sleek. A few owners aren't impressed, saying that it's no better than drugstore dryers. However, the naysayers are few and far between. We found very few complaints of the T3 malfunctioning, but one owner does say the warranty is difficult to redeem, as you need to have it handy or have registered the product upon purchase.

It is worth noting, the T3 Featherweight 2 used to be called the Featherweight -- the primary features are the same.

Ease Of Use

Difficult to hold. Professional reviewers often tout the Featherweight 2 as lightweight, but owners complained that the dryer is heavier than expected and is difficult to hold up because of that. One expert points out that the decrease in drying time may help some women completely dry their hair regardless of the dryer's weight. As for the handle, reviewers note it could be easier to use; one owner says the handle is a bit slippery and difficult to grip. Allure.com editors warn that it's easy to hit the cool-shot button by accident. Despite their complaints, most owners say that they don't mind these relatively small inconveniences.

1. ConsumerReports.org

Editors at ConsumerReports.org say there's no need to pay high-end prices for an effective hair dryer. However, when noise and other features are factored in, price may be a better indicator of quality. While all models tested used ionic technology, some dryers featured ceramic or tourmaline heating elements. Editors don't say whether these factors had any impact at all. Finally, the dryers were rated on how easy they were to use, sound level and how satisfied the testers were with the results.

However, she does note you need to watch how you hold the handle, as it's easy to accidentally press the cool-shot button.

7. Folica.com

Folica.com contributors often offer hundreds of reviews for each hair dryer model, but the T3 Featherweight 2 is reviewed fewer than five times -- likely due to the relative newness of the model under this name. A third reviewer gives the Featherweight 2 only 1 star and complains it's no better than a drugstore dryer. Overall this dryer gets just 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Derrick selects 11 dryers as the best on the market, but doesn't explain how she selected them or whether they were tested. 9. Apartment Therapy.com

ApartmentTherapy.com, though not a typical resource for beauty product reviews, offers a fairly detailed review of the T3 Featherweight. The reviewer, Emily Ho, doesn't buy into the product's claims but says the Featherweight did cut drying time down by about 40 to 50 percent. She points out that though this is a high-wattage dryer, the decrease in drying time makes the Featherweight a relatively environmentally friendly option.
