Owners and experts agree that the KitchenAid KHB100 hand blender works as well as many full-size jar-style blenders when it comes to puréeing soups and sauces. It has a stainless-steel shaft, a large pulse button and a long cord. The KitchenAid KHB100 blender, which comes in a several colors, has nine speeds and a one-year replacement warranty. The KitchenAid KHB300 (*Est. $80) is identical to the KHB100, but this more expensive kit includes a four-piece chopper and a stainless-steel whisk as attachments. The less expensive Cuisinart SmartStick CSB-76 (*Est. $30) is a basic hand blender like the KitchenAid KHB100, but is favored in more professional reviews.

We found the best review of the KitchenAid KHB100 at Cook's Illustrated, where it's pitted against seven other immersion blenders. PBS show "Americas Test Kitchen" and KitchenGadgetGals.com both name the KitchenAid KHB100 as their favorite hand blender, but they don't disclose details about how tests were conducted. We read numerous owner-written reviews of the KHB100 at Epinions.com and Amazon.com, where it's a favorite.
