Experts from multiple sites recommend the Kodak Zx5 as a decent, durable pocket camcorder capable of shooting in full 1080p HD, but multiple owners complain of it leaking underwater or completely freezing up. We found similar complaints for the earlier Kodak Playsport Zx3, although plenty of owners don't report any problems with these camcorders.
Reviewers have a range of concerns. The Zx5 is similar to its cousin, the Kodak Zx3, and according to some reviewers, it might be worse. While it's drop-proof up to 5 feet and waterproof up to 10 feet, reviewers have a range of concerns, including issues with leakage and a dicey-looking autofocus.
Issues with water submersion and limited features. Reviewers like the Kodak Zx5's video quality; however, complaints about the Zx5's waterproof capabilities raise concern. The camcorder also does not come bundled with a USB cable, rechargeable battery or media card, which require additional investments.
Compact, travel-friendly size. The Zx5 maintains the classic pocket camcorder design. Slightly bigger than the Zx3, it is still portable, and as Joshua Goldman from CNET says, there is no issue "slipping it into a pants pocket or small handbag."
