Amazing system, great price, and a surprisingly room-filling sub., May 27, 2009

I've stared at this system on the internet for about 4 years before finally moving into a new home, and purchasing it. The speakers are made well, but sound even better. Great highs, great midrange, and of course - a real room-filling subwoofer. With music these speakers sound great, and of course watching a blu-ray disc really brings the true sound out of these which will blow you away for the price and size. This is one of the highest recommendations I can give. The only issue I had, is that the first subwoofer was blown, but onecall replaced it quickly for me.

Our Sources

1. CNET

Steve Guttenberg finds few flaws in this review of the Definitive Technology ProCinema 800, saying it "redefined our expectations of what a small surround speaker system can do." The write-up includes a few comparisons, but those are to less expensive systems, limiting their usefulness.

2. AVGuide.com

Chris Martens is clearly impressed with the Definitive Technology ProCinema 800, saying that if you heard the system blindfolded, you'd think it cost $1,000 more than it does. Originally reviewed as part of a survey of sub $1,500 systems in Playback magazine, the ProCinema 800 is "hands down" one of the best sounding ones included and "quite an achievement for the money," Martens says.

3. Sound & Vision Magazine

This report at Sound & Vision is very comprehensive, though perhaps too technical for all but dedicated audiophiles. Results of both listening and bench tests are reported. It earns a Certified and Recommended award and is called a "marvelously high-value setup for smaller rooms -- and even some not-all-that-small ones."
