Amica Mutual Homeowners Insurance easily outclasses other home insurers in reviews -- only USAA (a military-only insurer) gets equally spectacular ratings. Customers say Amica Mutual provides great customer service and doesn't hassle them over claims. Financial raters also say Amica Mutual is one of the strongest homeowners insurers in the U.S. But customers say Amica Mutual can be very picky about which clients it accepts; some report that even near-perfect credit scores didn't qualify them for Amica Mutual's lowest premium rate. Chubb is another home insurer that delivers stellar customer service, but it caters to wealthy clients. Bigger insurers like State Farm Homeowners Insurance accept more customers, but they get lower ratings for customer service and claims problems.
J.D. Power and Associates and ConsumerReports.org survey thousands of policyholders about their home insurers' customer service (including Amica Mutual) and rate the companies accordingly. The Better Business Bureau and National Association of Insurance Commissioners provide data on Amica Mutual's rare customer complaints. Weiss Ratings and Best's Review magazine rate Amica Mutual's financial stability.
