The Sunpentown SU-4010 is an ultrasonic tabletop humidifier that can produce either warm or cool mist -- enough to humidify 500 square feet of space. The moisture output can be adjusted with a manual dial, but there is no built-in humidistat. Users say that this humidifier produces plenty of good, fine mist, and it runs quietly. Thanks to its demineralization cartridge (called the Ion Exchange Filter), it does not leave behind white dust like many ultrasonic humidifiers. This model also includes overheat protection and a rotating nozzle to direct the vapor. However, we did read quite a few complaints about leakage and other durability problems with this humidifier. The more expensive Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic 7144 (*Est. $200) may prove more reliable.
