Oxo Steel Ice Cream Scoop

Pros
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Useful for portioning other foods
Cons
  • Difficult to clean under lever
  • Not functional for softer ice cream

The Oxo Steel Ice Cream Scoop features a thumb-activated lever mechanism that pushes the final scoop off the spoon, eliminating the need to use a finger. The Oxo Steel/Good Grips Ice Cream Scoop can also be used for portioning other foods, such as forming meatballs. Reviews say the Oxo is comfortable for both left- and right-handed users, and unlike most other ice cream scoopers, it's dishwasher-safe. That said, owners say it's tough to clean under the lever, and the lever mechanism doesn't work well on softer ice creams. For an ice cream scoop capable of scooping both hard and soft ice creams, try the Zeroll Original Ice Cream Scoop (*Est. $25) which has a self-warming liquid in the handle for slicing through the hardest of ice creams.
