The KitchenAid KHB2351 3-Speed Hand Blender wins a stick-blender shootout at one prominent testing organization, handling every task with ease. It comes in a close second in another round up that includes testing. However, it's not quite as powerful as our Best Reviewed Immersion Blender, the Breville BSB510XL Control Grip (Est. $100). That means that the KitchenAid won't handle heavy tasks like making nut butters. If you don't need an immersion blender for that, reviewers say this is a top value since that's the only major difference between the two appliances.
Performs admirably in expert testing. In one top test, the KitchenAid KHB2351 "sailed through pesto, smoothies, soup, hummus, whipped cream, and mayonnaise." In another, it was a close runner up to the top pick, the Breville BSB510XL Control Grip (Est. $100). In that second roundup, the tester says it created an excellent vortex and did well in all tests except turning nuts into nut butters and completely pureeing soup. The KitchenAid includes a 3-cup BPA-free blending cup, which reviewers say is great for drinks and small batches of sauce, a whisk attachment, for whipping cream and eggs, and a 2.5-cup chopper bowl for nuts and cheeses. It gets very good feedback from users for its versatility in a variety of kitchen tasks and very few complaints related to performance.
A couple of quibbles. This is the only area in which we found any consistent complaints about the KitchenAid KHB2351. You have to hold down the power button continuously to blend, and a number of owners as well at least one expert reviewer say it can be difficult and tiring. We also read some complaints that the blending shaft is difficult to detach, especially if you let it set a while after a job. However, except for those complaints -- and they are in the minority -- this KitchenAid hand blender gets very good reviews for ease of use and cleaning. The vast majority of users don't have an issue with having to hold down the power button, or it's simply not a deal-breaker for them. All attachments and accessories are dishwasher safe -- top rack only, though.
Good reviews for customer service. The KitchenAid KHB2351 is reported by users as sturdy and durable; we found a few scattered complaints of breakage, but not enough to concern us. It also comes with a strong, one-year warranty, and KitchenAid gets top ratings for customer service. The shaft is polished stainless steel, and the handle is available in white, contour silver, and onyx black. The price varies a little depending upon the finish option.

The KitchenAid 3-Speed Hand Blender came in a strong second to the top pick in this roundup, the Breville Control Grip Immersion Blender. Christine Cyr Clisset says the KitchenAid performed very well, with just a bit less power than the Breville. That kept it from making smooth peanut butter and resulted in pulp remaining in pureed soups.
