The Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark II is designed mostly for photo printing and gets good reviews in that regard. Canon claims the Mark II's print engine is three times faster than the original Pro9000, but reviewers are divided on how accurate that is. Some find the Mark II quick, others complain that it prints slowly. The Mark II uses eight separate pigment-based ink cartridges, which results in very good pictures, though some reviewers find better results when they tweak images with photo software beforehand. The Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark II is a medium-format printer that can produce prints up to 13 inches by 19 inches -- a capability rare in its price range. If you don't need to print that large but still want an exceptional photo printer, we found great reviews for the midpriced Epson Stylus Photo 1400 (*Est. $275).
The Pixma Pro9000 Mark II has a fair amount of coverage. PrinterInfo.com and Imaging-Resource.com both have long reviews of the printer, though they disagree on its merits. British sites TrustedReviews.com and PC Pro also evaluate the Mark II in useful, if less comprehensive, reviews. Amazon.com's base of user reviews is small but overwhelmingly favorable.

4. PC Pro
PC Pro gives the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark II a Recommended designation in this brief review. Dave Stevenson has nothing but praise for the Mark II's output, calling print quality superb and saying it rivals commercial print services in price. Unlike other reviewers, Stevenson finds the print speeds more than fast enough. His only quibble is over the high cost of the printer itself.

Only about 15 users review the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark II so far on Amazon.com, but nearly all give the printer five out of five stars. The few who aren't enamored cite problems with compatibility with Macs and non-Vista PCs.
