BiteBlocker Organic Xtreme Insect Spray is a natural insect repellent containing soybean and other plant oils as the active ingredients, which are safe for use on children and babies. Tests show that BiteBlocker insect repellent is somewhat effective for short periods, but it can't compete in effectiveness with formulas containing oil of lemon eucalyptus or DEET. For most people, BiteBlocker insect repellent works to fight off mosquitoes, ticks and black flies, but performance seems to vary a lot between individuals. We read test reports that it lasts anywhere from just 90 minutes to about three hours. Not everyone likes the smell of this insect repellent, and good coverage is essential for it to be effective. If you would like longer protection from a natural insect repellent, Repel Lemon Eucalyptus Insect Repellent (*Est. $8 for 4 oz.) also contains plant oils and lasts eight hours or longer, but note that it shouldn't be used on children younger than 3.
