Norton Internet Security 2010 is the most well-received Internet security product currently on the market. Independent testing labs consistently report that Norton catches more malware than the competition. Part of this may be based on Norton's new reputation-based filtering, which uses information from Symantec's broad user base. The suite also scores well for other central features, such as spam and spyware blocking. Reviewers believe that Norton Internet Security is a well-balanced choice for non-techies, thanks to its improved user interface.

Continuing a welcome trend begun in last year's edition, Norton Internet Security 2010 has a relatively light footprint, resulting in far less system drag than previous versions, and less system drag than many of its current competitors. Still, users and reviewers point out that Norton could improve technical support more. The product is also pricey compared to its competitors, but frequent rebates reduce the sting of that a bit. If low price and good protection are priorities, and you are willing to accept slightly sluggish performance, G Data Internet Security Suite 2010 (Discontinued) is also worth a look.

Norton security products get thorough coverage from reviewers. Consumer computing and electronics sites and publications such as PCMag.com, CNET, and Web User all give Norton Internet Security 2010 high marks for usability and effectiveness. Britain's Which? magazine includes Norton Internet Security 2010 in its latest roundup; though discussion is brief, it is backed up by independent testing.

Shaw thinks that the suite's price point is a bit high, but, overall, he concedes that the software is nevertheless worth the cost.
