Reviewers say Panda Internet Security 2009 is a good budget security suite if you don't need sophisticated spam control. Panda has a strong reputation for virus detection and removal, and experts say it's effective against the major types of malware. If parental control is your priority, there are better options including Norton Internet Security 2009 (*Est. $35), which also gets top ratings for protection, performance and ease of use. Panda Global Protection 2009 (*Est. $40) is identical to Panda Internet Security but with the addition of online backup and some tune-up utilities.
PCMag has the most thorough review of Panda Global Protection 2009; PC World and CNET have good coverage of Panda Internet Security 2009. All three articles discuss malware protection, effect on system performance, and overall ease of use. Which? magazine has a short write-up on Panda Internet Security based on the magazine's independent testing. User reviews aren't plentiful, but we found a small handful at Amazon.com.
