Defective from the start--will not charge/connect any iPod (Nano, Video, Touch), November 18, 2009

I've had other Altec Lansing speaker products and have found them to be top-notch, including the inMotion products and stand-alone speakers. This product had problems within the first week. Even with the proper adapters, the iPod Nano and Touch simply don't work (charge or play) with this unit, and I can only get the video iPod to play if I physically hold the iPod in the unit "just right". The product is literally right out of the box and stopped working--I've used it twice. Have requested a return from the seller, but still have not received an email with shipping return information, so we'll see if the product is replaced with a working unit.

Randomly Quit Working, November 15, 2009

This product was great for the first two months we had it. Then, one morning, It did not turn on. We tried charging it, and it still wouldn't work. The product looks brand new. It just stopped working. Please beware! I tried calling the service number, and going on their website for help. I got no responses. I don't know much about their other products, but I would avoid this brand all together just because of my experience with these Ipod speakers. Go with ihome or Bose.

After 3 Years, I'm still impressed., November 15, 2009

I've used 3 iPods with this model, not to mention countless others passing through. From iPod touchs, nanos, shuffles, and otherwise, I've never been disappointed. The 6th generation iPods, iPhone's and iPod touch's (2nd Gen and up) do run on alternate software that makes charging impossible. I just bought the newest generation classic and it charges just fine. Now on to the sound - Excellence. An absolute revelation. Sure, it doesn't have some of the acoustic range that Bose has, but so? It gets loud, the bass and treble are all even. You can even use to EQ settings on your iPod to do a little of your own enhancing. Not to mention, the battery power. Once used the dock on battery power for 6 hours straight and it didn't decrease one. Out of personal fear, I just plugged it in after a while. To say the least I love this item and new models may come and go, but this is the one I recommend. People like the radio feature to. I'm not a radio fan so I don't use it, but it's nice to have the option. The remote's great too!! Hopefully you read this before you buy.... iPod Touch's (2G & Up), iPhones, and 6th Generation Nano's Do run on different charging software, so they don't charge on this model, but they fixed that situation...

great little machine, November 10, 2009

We have used this machine for about a year now and LOVE IT. It has good FM reception (I'm listening to the radio on it as I write this) and we use it daily for both music and radio. I even took it with us on a road trip so my husband could listen to some podcasts on my ipod with me in the car, and it was awesome. We take it out to garden with us, I've used it at work...so it has gotten around The only unmet desire I have is that it would charge my iphone while docking.

Great little dock., November 6, 2009
I bought this ipod stereo after some research and am definitely happy. I'm buying a 2nd one but only until it comes down in price a bit. (Paid $60 for it last year.)

iLounge.com is full of comprehensive, up-to-date professional reviews. Jeremy Horwitz thoroughly tests the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 and compares it with earlier Altec Lansing models, saying that the iM600 is the company's best iPod speaker ever. The review is also appropriately critical of the finicky radio, but it still assigns the iM600 a high grade.

2. CNET

CNET gives the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 four out of five stars and raves about its sound quality, while griping that the speaker's dock does not secure iPods very well. Because of the unreliable dock, it may not be a good choice for outdoor use.

3. Macworld

Reviewer Dan Frakes is most impressed with the wide array of features the Altec Lansing iM600 offers for its price, noting that video pass-through, USB syncing and digital radio are all extras that most iPod speakers in this price range do not typically include. However, Macworld also notes that the radio is difficult to tune.

In this comprehensive review, Bob Buskirk tests out the iM600 speakers from a consumer's point of view and makes some insightful discoveries. Taking the speakers outside the lab, Buskirk finds that the Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 performs great at a crowded pre-game tailgate party. However, he also wishes the iM600 came with a carrying case, like many other models do.

This article at Smart Computing reviews only six speakers, all in different categories. The reviews are detailed and somewhat comparative, although Flamig mainly focuses on product specifications and tends to gloss over positive attributes. The Altec Lansing inMotion iM600 is favored for its price and audio quality that surprisingly delivers a "surround-sound feel."
