The Boston Acoustics Duo-i Plus iPod/clock-radio system gets good reviews from a handful of professional tech sites. While most like what the unit has to offer, reviews on sound quality are mixed. Jeff Bakalar at CNET is very impressed by the sound quality, but Aaron Kraus of Appletell.com thinks the bass is often overwhelming. PCMag.com's Tim Gideon says there is too much distortion at higher volumes.
Most reviews say these issues would be less important if the unit were less expensive. All like the easy-to-use remote, even though it doesn't control your iPod. Setting alarms is simple, and the super-accessible snooze button is considered one of the system's best features. The Duo-i Plus supports fourth-generation iPods and higher, and is iPhone certified. A video output port on the back and two auxiliary inputs offer additional connection options. The significantly less expensive iHome iA91 (*Est. $100) gets more recommendations, although its audio quality isn't the best.
CNET, PCMag.com and AppleTell.com provide considered reviews based on hands-on testing of the Boston Acoustics Duo-i Plus. A handful of Amazon.com user reviews are mostly in agreement.

The Duo-i Plus is rated 3 stars out of 5 from PCMag.com, and reviewer Tim Gideon says the sound quality is very good until you crank the volume above moderate levels. He's disappointed that the remote can't control iPod navigation, considering the price. The Duo-i Plus is easy to use, but Gideon says that some less expensive systems offer better sound and features.

Reviewer Aaron Kraus gives a very positive review of the Boston Acoustics Duo-i Plus, awarding the unit 4 of 5 "apples" for both sound and features. Kraus does feel that the bass is a little overpowering at times, and sees the large size of the Duo-i Plus as its biggest drawback.
