Broken, November 8, 2009
Unfortunately when I received the system it was broken and at the time amazon was out and couldn't replace it. I wish we could have had the chance to enjoy the product more.
Awesome, Specially for the Hearing Impaired, August 19, 2009

We bought these over 2 years ago. They got a lot of use and still working like new. I wear hearing aids. Two features I would highly recommend to anybody with my reduced hearing. 1) Most critical, the sound is excellent. Our TV is hooked to it. I can understand what's being said better than with any other audio system, and I've tried many. My daughter has a full blown 5.1 system and I have problems when listening to it. 2) The ability to place the speakers closer to myself when I don't use my hearing aids; allows me to hear clearly without anoying my family. They are about 12' away normally. We take them in the kitchen when preparing meals. This has been to me a lifestyle gift.

speaker batteries cannot be replaced, August 12, 2009

I am torn between saying that this system is a 5 or a 1. All of the above reviews do explain what a great system this is. We love it. I bought it because we could connnect our Bose CD radio using the unput/output on both to either play the CD/Radio through the wireless speakers or I could connect to play my Ipod docked on the Griffin through my Bose, so in essense I got a third speaker using my Bose. But the problem is that the Speaker batteries cannot be replaced. Mine are less than two years old and no longer take a charge. We are a family, and I know that it gets normal to less than normal use. This bothers me that you can't replace the batteries and that this will mean throwing away the system. In our dispoable society, I am annoyed. SO take it as you may, I love the system, but do not like disposable nature of it. (By the way, the website lists replaceable speakers, but it says they are discontinued.)

Fantastic!, July 9, 2009

This was so easy to unbox and set up. It was shipped half charged as well, so I could try it out pretty much within 2 minutes of unboxing it. It's solidly built and looks great. The sound: well, at first I was pretty underwhelmed. I played all sorts of music at a very low volume level (lets say at a volume fit for a cubical at work). I was very underwhelmed. It was 'alright', but nothing great. Now, when my opinion on this changed was when I removed them from the dock, took them (about 60 feet away) to the living room and placed them 10 feet apart on the mantle. I cranked the volume up pretty good. WOW. Now we're talking! It sounded very good. Acoustic stuff like Jack Johnson, etc, sounds best. Very clear and the highs and the mids are very balanced. Yea, the low-end (bass) could be better, but overall the sound is great. Something else I was pleasantly surprised at was the "mono" or "stereo" setting. If you want to separate the speakers, ie: put one outside and leave the other in your kitchen, etc, you can set the base to "mono" and each speaker will have the full left and right channel. A very nice idea. I also like how easy it is to add additional speakers to your set. It seems tricky to find additional speakers, but I now Griffin (at one time) had those available.

1. iLounge.com

Jeremy Horwitz is very impressed with the Griffin Evolve, raving about the incredibly stylish design and how well Griffin is able to blend beauty and functionality. Certain features, like a powerful remote and battery, are also noted as pros. While Horwitz says the sound quality could be better, he adds that the Evolve's sound is "impressive by wireless audio standards."

2. Laptop Magazine

As with other reviewers, Laptop Magazine likes the Griffin Evolve's attractive design and portability. Kobrin also appreciates that the radio-frequency remote does not need to have line of sight to base station in order to work, a huge convenience. On the other hand, Kobrin is more critical of the Griffin Evolve's sound quality than iLounge.com is; he also points out that the speakers lack a 3.5 mm line input.

3. PCMag.com

This PCMag.com review begrudgingly admits that the Griffin Evolve is undeniably "cool-looking," although Gideon insists it's not worth its price tag because of its poor sound quality. Contrary to the other two reviews that give Evolve leeway because it is a wireless system, PCMag.com does not and says the "Evolve should sound much better than it does."

4. Amazon.com

The two dozen user reviews here are almost entirely positive. Though professional reviews give the Griffin Evolve mixed reviews for sound quality, users don't seem to care, saying that the "wow" factor and flexibility of the wireless speakers trump pretty much everything else.
