The iHome iA91 alarm clock/iPod dock is an upgrade from the previous year's iHome iP90 model. Reviewers note small but welcome changes, such as the reduced footprint; backlit display (which one reviewer describes as "closer to true black rather than a dark purplish blue"); and simplified controls. Reviewers like the iA91's remote control, even though it's smaller than the iP90's remote and can't navigate iPod menus. They say the iA91's remote is an improvement simply because it works as intended, allowing you to control the clock radio from as far as 30 feet away.
Compatibility with in-house apps, such as iHome + Sleep and iHome + Radio, is new in this price range and opens access to a number of new features, including speaker adjustments, alarm settings and a nap timer. One reviewer calls the radio's performance "phenomenal" when paired with iHome + Sleep. The same reviewer was able to fit his iPhone into the dock without removing it from its bulky case, and the iA91 comes with universal dock adapters to fit almost any iPhone or iPod. One expert reviewer notes that the iA91's sound performance has been reduced somewhat (compared to its predecessor, the iP90), but says that it still "generally sounds quite good," and that the average user won't notice the difference.
The best review comes from iLounge, which provides extensive discussion of the iA91's performance during hands-on testing and a full comparison to the iP90, which the iA91 replaced. We also found a detailed review in Beatweek Magazine, and a hands-on review from RunaroundTech.com. Although enthusiastic, the brief reviews from MobileWhack.com and iPhoneSpeakerReviews.com don't really offer any new information.
