Budget portable iPod speakers
- Compatible with iPhone
- Excellent sound quality
- Stylish design
- 10-hour rechargeable battery
- Remote control has limitations
The Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 iPod dock is similar to its predecessor in nearly every way, except it adds iPhone compatibility. This means that a docked iPhone can play music and still receive phone calls without the risk of interference or GSM buzz. Jeremy Horwitz at iLounge.com loves its design and calls it the "best-sounding portable speaker in its price class," and most reviewers agree. The biggest flaw is the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2's buggy remote that runs out of juice easily or dies after several weeks. We also saw a few reports on user-review sites that the speakers often shut off (due to a sensitive power-saving feature) when the volume is turned down very low. These issues aside, most reviewers say the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 is an excellent portable iPod speaker, and many say it's the best speaker available at this price point. If your budget is a bit bigger, the Altec Lansing Mix iMT800 (*Est. $300) earns excellent reviews for sound quality, and it's also compatible with the iPhone.
Many professional reviewers test the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2. The best review comes from iLounge.com, arguably the most comprehensive source of iPod speaker reviews. iLounge extensively tests the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 for performance and ranks it against its competitors. Audioholics.com, MacLife and the British magazine What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision have useful but shorter reviews. We also found user reviews at Amazon.com.

Jeremy Horwitz says the sound quality of the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 is awesome, and he praises the design, the long battery life and the minimal interference when using it with the iPhone. However, the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 loses some points for its inconvenient remote control that cannot reactivate the iPhone from standby mode.

Jon Phillips at MacLife has a different opinion of the Pure-Fi Anywhere 2 than most reviewers. He says the sound is "blah," and he isn't impressed with the design either. Still, he acknowledges that the speakers are portable and convenient.
