Reviewers say that if you want a good-sounding portable system that won't break the bank, the Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S715i iPod speaker should be at the top of your list. The 1.5-pound S715i can run off the included wall adapter, or a battery that lasts eight hours between charges. This speaker system is compatible with most iPods, although you may have to slip your iPod or iPhone out of its case; some bulky cases prevent the devices from docking properly. The S715i bears Works with iPhone certification, which means the speakers are GSM-shielded to prevent interference from incoming phone calls and text messages.
Reviewers say the Logitech S715i sounds superb given its compact size, and it provides better audio and bass response than Logitech's previous iPod speakers. You'll lose some volume when the speakers are running on battery power, but for most reviewers that's not a deal-breaker. We also saw a few complaints that the carrying case for the speakers doesn't provide much protection. If sound quality is your primary concern, reviewers recommend the Arcam rCube (*Est. $475) as the very best portable speaker system. It's heavy, at about 11 pounds, and very expensive, but has a built-in carry handle and provides unmatched audio quality among portable systems.
The best review of the Logitech Rechargeable Speaker S715i comes from iLounge.com; editor-in-chief Jeremy Horwitz provides an unmatched level of detail in his reviews, accompanied by a number of photographs. CNET, PCMag.com, I4U.com and iPodRepublic.com also provide helpful details, and more than 650 Amazon.com users give the S715i an average 4.4-star rating.
