Bottom Line

Reviews recommend EarthLink Cable if fiber optic Internet service or top cable ISPs like Cox Cable (*Est. $42 per month) aren't available where you live. EarthLink Cable Internet service is available in areas served by Time Warner, Bright House and Comcast using their cable systems.

Plans and Speed

Wide range of plans. EarthLink Cable Internet earns above-average ratings for speed and reliability in one extensive customer satisfaction survey. Speeds range from 768 Kbps download to a respectable 15 Mbps (*Est. $52 per month), but not all plans and speeds are available in all areas.

Features

Free email and storage. As with other EarthLink Internet services, EarthLink Cable Internet comes with eight free email accounts, each with 100 MB of storage space. EarthLink provides a high-speed cable modem and subscribers get free access up to 20 hours dial-up per month. Its Internet security suite includes parental controls.

Customer Satisfaction

Generally high ratings. EarthLink Cable Internet scores highly in ConsumerReports.org's 2012 review of ISP customer satisfaction, ranking in the top three ISPs of any kind. At BroadbandReports.com, subscribers give this service an average rating of 77 percent over the last six months for customer satisfaction. Its speed and reliability earn good scores, but technical support and customer service rate lower.
