We found the most recent comparison tests of the Bosch 1590EVSK at Fine Homebuilding magazine, where it's compared with 11 other corded jigsaws. The review is summarized in Taunton's 2008 Tool Guide, which also has rankings from a survey of Fine Homebuilding and Fine Woodworking readers. Earlier comparison reviews at Woodworker's Journal and Popular Mechanics magazine are still useful, because jigsaw models stay current for years. The single-product reviews in the Journal of Light Construction and at NewWoodworker.com provide more detail, but the latter review is less critical. At Amazon.com, more than 150 owners review and rate the two different handle versions of the Bosch 1590EVSK jigsaw, based on their own experiences.
Reviews say the Bosch 1590EVSK jigsaw performs well and provides great convenience, with tool-free bevel adjustment as well as tool-free blade changes in which the hot blade is ejected so you don't have to touch it. The Bosch jigsaw's soft-start electronic motor makes for smooth cuts, and the trigger has a lock-on button to prevent trigger-finger fatigue. The Bosch 1590EVSK has a dust blower to clear the cutting line but no real dust collection. For superb dust collection, lighter weight and a longer warranty, consider the top-ranked jigsaw in reviews, the Festool Trion PSB300 EQ (*est. $295), which costs about twice as much.

2. Fine HomebuildingDetails/Subscribe
Based on objective testing of 12 corded D-handled jigsaws, this review names the Bosch 1590EVSK the "best overall" jigsaw, saying it "handles like a dream" and has the best blade changing. The review also praises the Bosch blade guide, front flush-cutting ability and tool-free bevel adjustment.

3. Woodworker's JournalDetails/Subscribe
Based on rigorous tests of 13 jigsaws, this review concludes that although the Festool Trion PSB300 EQ jigsaw is the best, the Bosch 1590EVSK is superior when price is taken into account - "great quality at a great price." The Bosch cuts even melamine smoothly, but the barrel-grip version is judged uncomfortable because the grip is too big even for a large hand.
