Great tool, September 12, 2009
Absolutely essential tool for my construction business. Couple of issues, the plastic splinter guard disappeared in the first 15 minutes of work, lost in the debris, and one battery supplied the jigsaw does not hold good charge. Returned battery to Makita.

This saw is the cats meow! I have nothing bad to say about it. What clean quiet cord free cuts. The splinter plastic devise has been falling off. The only problem so far. I had the corded Milwaukee jig and this is all around better. These latest Makita cordless tools are great, I bought the 4 tool pack and the 7 tool pack and then this tool all by itself. VERY PLEASED!

3. Amazon.com

The sole review of the Makita LXT BJV180 lithium-ion jigsaw here gives it a perfect five-star rating, calling it "the cat's meow" and praising its clean, quiet cord-free cuts. The only drawback is that the plastic shield sometimes pops off. Owners' reviews of Makita kits that include the jigsaw are also quite favorable.

4. Power Tools for Geeks

Although this review is dated before Makita added a jigsaw to its lithium-ion-powered cordless tool line, tool geek Brian Mark does an excellent job of explaining the differences between Makita's lithium-ion tools and other brands'. Another article here reports results of an informal poll of women, who say judge the Makita LXT tools are the most comfortable and well balanced.
