The Baby Jogger Performance Single jogging stroller is a favorite of serious runners because the 20-inch wheels provide a smooth ride while reducing fatigue during long runs. The Baby Jogger Performance stroller has a V-brake, which reviewers say improves control and braking responsiveness. It also has a 100-pound weight capacity that is much higher than other top-rated jogging strollers, so you'll be able to use the Baby Jogger Performance stroller much longer than comparable models. Some users caution that the Baby Jogger Performance isn't the best choice for tossing into the back of a vehicle because its big wheels take up a lot of space even when folded. An alternative to the Baby Jogger is the top-rated BOB Ironman (*Est. $350). This fixed-wheel jogging stroller is less expensive and has 16-inch tires, so it's easier to fit in the trunk. However, the Ironman's weight capacity is lower at 70 pounds.
Babble.com provides one of the best reviews of the Baby Jogger Performance Single jogging stroller, rating it on several criteria and providing tester feedback. One top baby gear book is also helpful, but the authors provide much more detail on the Baby Jogger brand in general than they do on this particular stroller. We found several owner-written reviews at JoggingStroller.com. MomFinds.com and About.com also provide useful feedback on the Baby Jogger Performance stroller.

This excellent book includes buyer's guides and ratings for all types of baby gear, including jogging strollers. The authors conduct hands-on testing and also interview parents, manufacturers and retailers. Parents posting to Amazon.com say this is the best baby gear book available, with plenty of current info and lots of attitude, including sections aimed at steering consumers away from unnecessary features. Although the authors focus mainly on reviewing stroller brands, they do single out a few jogging and all-terrain models as the top strollers in their class.

Although the Baby Jogger Performance Single ultimately loses the Babble Best award to the BOB Revolution, Kate Bayless includes it as a runner-up. She says the Baby Jogger Performance Single handles well, providing a smooth and stable ride. She notes that it is not a compact stroller, but recommends it for parents who have lots of storage space.

3. MomFinds.com
MomFinds.com calls the Baby Jogger Performance Single the "best performance jogging stroller." Editors like the large, smooth-rolling wheels, and the direct-pull brakes also get high marks for good stopping power. The bulky size is the only downside of note.

ProductSifter.com has quite a long review of the Baby Jogger Performance Single, with reviewer Ursula Seymour calling it "best for running" among her list of the top five strollers. Her only complaint is that it's not suitable for children under six months old, but most true jogging strollers aren't.
