Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger - Single

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Good for serious runners
  • Adjustable handle
Cons
  • Hard to assemble
  • May be quality issues
  • Basket difficult to access

Bottom line

Serious runners who log a lot of miles need a fixed-wheel stroller, and the Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger gets great reviews as a jogger for distance runners. It also has some nice convenience features, like an adjustable handlebar, parent tray and MP3 player. There are too many mixed reviews about possible quality and durability issues for this to be a top pick, but at its price, it would be a great buy if it holds up.

Safety

Good safety features. The Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger has all the safety features a jogging stroller should have, such as a five-point padded harness, wrist strap, hand brake and rear parking brakes. The parking brakes have to be set individually.

Ease of use

Once it's assembled, it's fine. A couple of owners say they had no problem assembling the Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger, but they're outnumbered by those who say it took up to an hour. There are also complaints about missing instructions and screws. However, it gets great reviews for its easy push, probably due to its weight of less than 21 pounds, which makes it the lightest stroller in this category. Users warn that you have to be careful to keep the tires evenly filled or it will pull. It also gets complaints about alignment issues with the front wheel, and users say the owner's manual is vague about how to adjust the tracking. Reports say it's easy to fold, although it takes two hands, and it locks when folded.

Lifestyle features

Not a stroller for everyday use. Like other fixed-wheel strollers, this is not meant for strolling through the mall, taking in an amusement park or walking through crowded areas. It's a stroller for running, jogging or power walking only due to its fixed front wheel.

The Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger has more features than most fixed-wheel strollers, including a parent tray with two cup holders and a speaker for an MP3 player. However, owners say the MP3 speaker is so quiet it's practically useless. It has an adjustable handle for parents of different heights. The canopy and basket are described as small, and even reviewers who love this stroller say the basket is almost impossible to access because there isn't enough clearance between the frame and basket opening.

The stroller gets mixed reviews for comfort as well. Some say their children seem fine in it, but at least one expert reviewer says it's not well-padded and she adds padding for her child. The same reviewer says it's a bit of a bumpy ride as well because the suspension is only so-so.

The upper weight rating on the Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger is 50 pounds, lower than other jogging strollers that can hold children up to 70 pounds or more. It is not car seat compatible and should not be used for a child under 6 months. However, you should only jog with a child who can sit unassisted, which may be older than 6 months for some children. The Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger also comes in a double stroller.

Reviewers say the Arrow folds fairly small and the wheels are removable to make it a smaller, so it should fit in most car trunks, and, at 21 pounds, it shouldn't break your back lifting it in and out.

Customer service

Short warranty. Some Schwinn strollers come with a five-year warranty; the Schwinn Arrow Fixed Wheel Jogger has only a one-year warranty. The Schwinn Arrow single does not appear on the Schwinn website, only the double, but when we called customer service we were assured that the single is still being manufactured. It does appear on the InStep website. Schwinn and InStep are both owned by Dorel.
