Plenty of owners say Schwinn Turismo Swivel Wheel Jogger - Single works as well as higher-end, more expensive jogging strollers. A few say they've ditched their everyday stroller and use this for everything because it's also car seat compatible. It may not be the best for serious runners, but for the casual jogger, it's easy to use, includes a lot of convenience features and is comfortable for the rider. The big drawback is its weight and size -- at 31 pounds, it's one of the heaviest strollers around and it has a large fold that doesn't fit in some trunks.
Not the best safety features for jogging. The Schwinn Turismo Swivel Wheel Jogger-Single doesn't have quite as many safety features as higher end strollers, with individual rear brakes and a wrist strap, but no handle brake for better control on hills. It has a five-point padded harness.
Hard to fold, easy to push. The Schwinn Turismo Swivel Wheel Jogger-Single gets great reviews for its ease of assembly, maneuverability and pushability -- in spite of its weight. The fold as described as difficult; one reviewer said that even after having the stroller for a while, she was struggling with it. It's also heavy at 31 pounds, and a few reviewers who describe themselves as fit struggle to lift it. It locks when folded. There are a few complaints about quality issues with the front wheel.
A comfy beast. The Schwinn Turismo Swivel Wheel Jogger- Single is loaded with features, including a parent tray with two cup holders, a child tray with two cup holders and a speaker for an MP3 player. The MP3 speaker is panned across the board for its tinny, poor sound quality, and a number of reviewers wonder why there isn't a dedicated spot to put the player -- they say they just stick it in one of the cup holders. It has an adjustable handle for parents of different heights. The canopy and basket are described as small.
The stroller gets its best reviews for comfort for the rider, with parents saying it's very well-padded and the spring suspension makes for a smooth ride. The big drawback to this stroller, experts and owners agree, is its sheer size, with one reviewer calling it The Comfy Beast. A number of owners say it won't fit in any of their sedan car trunks; others say it fits, but takes up all the space. A few owners with bigger cars say it fits well. The wheels come off to make a smaller footprint, but this stroller is probably not the best choice for a suburban parent who has to lift it in and out a lot.
The upper weight rating on the Schwinn Turismo is 50 pounds, lower than other jogging strollers that can hold children up to 70 pounds or more. It is compatible with several car seats (adapters are integrated into the stroller), so it can be used from birth, but not as a running stroller. The seat is suitable for ages 6 months and up, but a baby should have full head control before a parent starts jogging. Children may be older than 6 months when they gain that control. The Schwinn Turismo also comes in a double stroller, the Schwinn Turismo Swivel Wheel Jogger-Double (*Est. $280).
Schwinn/InStep/Dorel? It's called the Schwinn Turismo, but if you look at the stroller on the Schwinn website you'll see a picture and nothing else. That's because specs for this stroller are on the InStep website, but you have to search for them in the search box because they don't appear if you click only on jogging strollers or on the sort box for the Schwinn brand. Schwinn and InStep are both owned by Dorel, a juvenile/recreational products conglomerate. There are a few scattered complaints about customer service and the lack of information on the website. The Schwinn Turismo has a good, five-year warranty, but another company, Pacific Cycle is the warranter.
