Reviewer M. David Stone of PCMag.com praises the Canon imageClass LBP6300dn's fast speed and ample paper handling as well as its Ethernet connectivity. At 10.3 inches by 15.8 inches by 14.9 inches and weighing 26.1 pounds, the LBP6300dn is almost too large to share a desk with, but Stone says the footprint seems larger than it actually is because of the printer's height. The clean and professional looking design of the printer is praised by Robin Morris of PC Advisor. With a 300 sheet capacity -- a 250 sheet drawer and a 50 sheet multipurpose tray -- and a fast printing speed, this printer works well as a shared printer in a workgroup. Users with heavy print needs can buy an additional print tray, which increases the paper capacity by 500 sheets.
Awarding the LBP6300dn printer 4 out of 5 stars at PCMag.com, Stone says that the LBP6300dn loses the Editors' Choice award to the Oki B413dn solely due to its high running costs (2.6 cents per page). However, the editors at Expert Reviews have a different view. They award the LBP6300dn printer full marks and make it a Best Buy because of its fast printing, reasonable results and low running costs (calculated at about 2.4 cents per page), calling it a bargain for home or office.
The LBP6300dn produces excellent quality text that is suitable for desktop publishing. However, reviewers say for graphics, it's at the lower end of the monochrome laser printer spectrum, though quality is adequate for internal publications. Robin Morris of PC Advisor also likes the "crisp and beautifully defined" text, stating that the print resolution of 2400 by 600 dpi is a higher-than-average resolution available in printers at this price. In PC Advisor's tests, duplex printing clocked in at an impressive 80 percent of the standard print speed. The LBP6300dn's setup is standard for a monochrome laser printer and is relatively straightforward, though the reviewer at Expert Reviews had to reboot his computer during the process.
Reviewers at PCMag.com, PC Advisor and Expert Reviews offer thorough evaluations of the Canon imageClass LBP6300dn printer, along with test results. TopTenReviews.com includes it in its list of laser printers.
