In testing, Tide with Bleach Alternative receives top marks in stain and odor removal. It also does not fade colors, even after repeated washings. Reviewers note, though, that Tide is among the most expensive detergents, and that the performance margin between Tide and some less expensive laundry soap isn't substantial. Wal-Mart's Great Value Ultra (*est. 12 cents per load) costs two-thirds less than Tide with Bleach Alternative, but in testing does almost as well.

Tide with Bleach Alternative is included in performance testing by Consumer Reports. In another test from Slate.com, Tide with Bleach Alternative is compared with two other detergents with color-safe bleaches. It is the best at keeping colors vibrant after repeated washings.
