The 21-inch Husqvarna 7021P, powered by a Honda engine, is one of the top-rated gas push mowers, with excellent features for the price. As a lawn mower brand, Husqvarna also rates as better than average. Reviewers praise the CARB-certified Honda OHV engine for quietness, fuel efficiency and durability as well as low emissions. The "3-in-one" lawn mower can rear-bag, mulch or side-discharge clippings -- making it more versatile than many push mowers.

The large 12-inch rear wheels have double ball bearings to aid maneuvering, and the handle adjusts in height and also folds for mower storage. A few owners report durability issues, and a minor complaint is the lack of throttle for idling the engine when desired. The biggest negative seems to be that you need to adjust cutting height at each of the four wheels. If you prefer more manual control consider the Honda HRS216PDA (*Est. $350). The Honda brand also usually sits atop the rankings in large owner-satisfaction surveys.

ConsumerReports.org tests the similar, slightly less expensive Husqvarna 6021P (*Est. $200), which has a Kohler engine with higher emissions, and editors base their opinion of the Husqvarna 7021P on that.
