The Lawn-Boy 10645 is a 20-inch gasoline push mower with a Briggs & Stratton engine that meets California Air Resource Board (CARB) strict emissions requirements and is available online throughout the continental United States. It's reasonably light for a push mower, and when equipped with a free optional side-discharge chute it gets top marks in this mode. It also mulches clippings well, but bagging is not its strong point. Most push mowers get too heavy when a bag is filled, anyway, but if you want a push mower that bags well, reviews recommend the 19-inch Cub Cadet CC 500 ( *Est. $250).

Since self-propelled mowers are more popular, gasoline push mowers aren't covered in many reviews. ConsumerReports.org does test the similar (but non-CARB-compliant) Lawn-Boy 10640 (*Est. $260), comparing it with eight other push mowers. The 2009 customer-satisfaction survey at J. D. Power and Associates compares Lawn-Boy as a brand with nine other lawn mower brands, and we also found useful owner-written reviews of the Lawn-Boy 10645 at Amazon.com and at HomeDepot.com.
