Note: This model is no longer available, but the similar Bolens 13AC762F065 appears to have replaced it at Lowes.com. The main difference is that the current model has a 13.5-horsepower engine, as opposed to the M762F's 15.5-horsepower unit.
The 38-inch Bolens M762F -- exclusive to Lowes -- is a basic lawn tractor with a six-speed manual transmission. Other than a cup holder, it offers few extras to enhance riding comfort. Still, it gets the job done, and reviews say it's effective for relatively small, flat lawns up to an acre in size. Moving up to a lawn tractor with an automatic transmission costs more, but it also gets you a wider cutting deck to speed the mowing. The main drawback is that Bolens is a brand made by MTD, which has a poor repair record. The six-speed Poulan XT PXT16542 (Discontinued) is made by Husqvarna and has a cast-iron axle, usually a sign of better build quality.
A detailed review of the Bolens M762F is offered at ConsumerGuide.com. About a dozen owners rate the budget Bolens M762F lawn tractor at Lowes.com, with many adding detailed comments.

2. Lowes.com
Dozens of owners give the Bolens lawn tractor a fairly low average rating, especially for quality. Users say it breaks down in the second to fourth years. The deck gauge wheels (to keep it from scalping the lawn) cost extra, and the bagging kit gets mixed reviews.
