Reviews say the Dell SP2208WFP is a good value for a 22-inch home LCD computer monitor because it comes loaded with extras. It's still available online from secondary vendors, though Dell has replaced it with the cheaper Dell S2209W (*Est. $240). The newer model lacks the extras like a webcam, microphone and USB hub. But it is otherwise just as versatile, offering the same display of text, video and games that reviews praised so much in the Dell SP2208WFP. Most owner reviews are reasonable and consider the low price, but there are complaints about the stand not being very adjustable (a common gripe about monitors). Not everyone likes the glossy screen. The best reviews overall among 22-inch LCD monitors go to the Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW (Discontinued).
The Dell SP2208WFP is built for a general use, and the best review sources for it are tech publications geared toward the mass market, PC Magazine and CNet.com. Both do the kind of thorough, unbiased testing that Consumer Reports made famous. In this case, their coverage exceeds that of Consumer Reports because they offer long essays while Consumer Reports provides just a ratings chart. We found a few owner reviews at PC World, but Dell's website offers many more such reviews and pros and cons are covered.

2. CNET
CNet provides unbiased, thorough testing. It gives an Editors Choice award to the Dell SP2208WFP, noting good display, attractive pricing and nice features but also saying that the stand isn't very adjustable and the glossy screen coating isn't best for office use.
Review: Dell SP2208WFP, Matthew Elliott, April 1, 2008
The free overview offers some general advice, but you'll need a subscription to see a ratings chart that includes nine 22-inch monitors, the Dell SP2208WFP among them. However, there are no individual reviews for the monitors.

4. Dell.com
Although this is the manufacturer's website, negative reviews are permitted. Most of the nearly 200 owner ratings are very high, but some complain about display quality, especially text.

At this writing, PC World had not posted a staff review, and only about a half-dozen owners had weighed in. All the reviews are complimentary, though some are disappointed that the stand won't adjust much.
