The HP LP2065 looks like a good bet in a 20-inch general-use monitor. While this HP monitor wouldn't be anyone's first choice for watching video or playing games, it isn't awful at either, reviews say. A review by DigitalTrends.com says color quality is OK for average gamers. But the major attraction is text display. The HP LP2065 isn't a widescreen, which reduces the amount of scrolling required for a similar amount of text (or web page). And the specialized vertical alignment panel is meant to reduce eyestrain. A review geared specifically to government office workers says the HP LP2065 tested better on text display than any monitor it had tried (and was also the worst at distinguishing shades of gray). Another advantage is this monitor's ability to rotate 90 degrees, and since this is a business monitor, there is onsite service available for the next business day under the three-year warranty. If you prefer a widescreen monitor, the 20-inch Samsung SyncMaster 2053BW (Discontinued) costs less and also gets good reviews.
We found the best review at Government Computer News. This publication is written especially for office workers, and testing is as thorough as we found anywhere. We also found good reviews aimed at a more general audience from PC Magazine, CNet.com, DigitalTrends.com and Maximum PC magazine.

Reviews here are brief, but they condense a lot of information based on impressive testing procedures. Reviewer John Breeden says the HP LP2065 is priced attractively and is the best text display he'd seen to that point, but it's also the worst at displaying gray fields.

PC Magazine reviews many LCD monitors and bases its assessments on thorough, standardized testing, although scores reflect a product's standing at the time of the review, not compared with more recent products. The HP LP2065 gets a rating of four out of five, with "solid" digital and "adequate" analog performance.

3. CNET
CNet.com does credible reviews of computer products based on unbiased testing. The HP LP2065 gets 3.5 out of five stars, with the conclusion that it's fine for office or "no-nonsense home use." But the reviewer notes that the "more entertainment-centric Gateway FPD2185W costs $50 less."

DigitalTrends.com doesn't offer a huge range of reviews for hardware, but the evaluations are extremely thorough and analytical. The HP LP2065 gets an overall score of eight out of 10, with reviewer Ian Bell saying it's good enough for most gamers, and so impressive for business use that "we will probably buy a couple for use in our offices."

Maximum PC magazine's LCD monitor reviews are short and mainly focused on features, but they are supported by testing and seem well balanced. Reviewer Katherine Stevenson says the HP LP2065 performs "respectably" in tests, though not as well as the Samsung 214T. She notes that this model has issues displaying grayscale images.
