The NEC MultiSync LCD2470 WNX gets good reviews, but its price is a negative compared with other 24-inch LCD computer monitors. The model was discontinued in November 2008 but is still available online. Reviews say the Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW (Discontinued) is the best value among 24-inchers. But the NEC MultiSync LCD2470 WNX offers some user-friendly functions, such as a joystick control, good adjustability on the stand and four USB ports. One credible review says gamers may be disappointed (be sure your video card supports a resolution of 1,920 pixels by 1,200 pixels), and some say the colors could be more accurate. This is a bulky (27-pound) monitor with a three-year warranty, and one review says excellent customer service makes it worth a look.
We found credible reviews from many sources, but Government Computer News impresses us most with its rigorous testing. Heavy testing is also evident from Germany's Prad, although the English translation is a bit awkward and the review is certainly not as concise at Government Computer News'. As is usually the case, CNet.com is thorough, unbiased, knowledgeable and readable. We found no owner reviews at Amazon.com, but about 20 at Newegg, com. Consumer Reports covers just four 24-inch monitors but not the NEC MultiSync LCD2470 WNX.

GCN does extensive testing of office monitors as the basis for its brief reviews. Reviewer John Breeden II says the price is a bit high, but video display is good (although some colors are "washed out"), there are four USB ports and the joystick control makes life easier.

2. Prad
This German website provides translations of its long, thorough reviews, although the English can be awkward and technical. The gist is the NEC LCD2470WNX is recommended for everything except "hardcore gamers" because of slow response time, "ugly" colors and shadows.

3. CNET
CNet bases its reviews on solid testing and says the NEC LCD2470WNX performs very well, but isn't enough of an upgrade to justify the high price. It does note that the warranty (three years) and excellent customer support make it worth considering.

4. NewEgg.com
About 20 owner reviews give the NEC LCD2470WNX a high average score, no one rating it less than a three out of five. Critics say it's a bit heavy and that the display isn't as crisp as they'd hoped.

5. XBitLabs.com
Six 24-inchers are subjected to thorough testing here, but uncharacteristically, no clear choices are made and the review is unusually bland. Reviewer Oleg Artamonov does note that the thickness and bezel make the LCD2470 look "bulky" and "massive."

6. I4U.com
This is a credible review based on hands-on use, but testing appears less technical than other sources employed. The gist is an Editors Choice award and a thumbs-up for both Blu-ray movie and gaming use.
