Vizio M551D-A2R

Best-value LED TV

Vizio's M1D-A2R offers a nearly unbeatable deal for those who want an LED TV that's easy on the eyes and the wallet. Image performance doesn't quite equal that of higher-priced competitors, but it's close enough to please all but the toughest picture perfectionists. The lineup of extras is strong, highlighted by a passive 3D feature that's well liked. Among Vizio's many M-series sets, the 50- and 55-inch screen sizes have similar specifications and should perform identically.

Vizio E390i-A1
Vizio E390i-A1

Best cheap LED TV

The Vizio E0i-A1 provides better performance than other sets in its class, and can even go toe-to-toe with many pricier TVs. Not all aspects of picture quality are top-shelf, but black levels are simply astounding for a set this cheap. Unlike some other cheap LED TVs, the picture also looks good in brightly lit rooms. You won't find 3D, but Internet streaming is well liked despite its dated interface. Vizio offers 39-inch, 42-inch and 50-inch E-series sets with similar specifications and features.

Small-screen LED TV

Perfectly sized for the kitchen, bedroom or dorm room, the Samsung UNF4000 is a top choice among small-screen TVs. Compared to other sets in its price and size class, image quality is very good, even in bright light. Some might be disappointed with the 720p resolution, but experts say it's perfectly fine in a set this size. There aren't a ton of features here, but the ability to play back video, photo and music files from a USB drive is a nice plus. The UNF4000 comes in 29- and 19-inch screen sizes.
