The Insignia NS-L42Q-10A is a budget-priced, 42-inch LCD television that's sold exclusively by Best Buy. In general, picture quality is competitive with all but the best LCD TVs, but picky viewers might want to look for higher-end alternatives. Some complain that the TV isn't quite as bright as many other LCD TVs, meaning it will struggle in a well-lit room. Additionally, while all LCD TVs lose picture quality if you view them at an angle, the NS-L42Q-10A is worse than most in that regard. We saw some user complaints about reliability, but the extensive two-year warranty provides added piece of mind. Among less-expensive 42-inch LCD TVs, we did see stronger overall recommendations for the LG 42LH30, but that TV is slightly more expensive.

Though there isn't a ton of feedback out there, ConsumerReports.org does provide a good testing-based review. User comments can be found in a few spots, including at CNET and BestBuy.com.

As Insignia is a Best Buy brand, the most owner reviews can be found at BestBuy.com -- with around 50 at this writing. Although reviews are overwhelmingly positive, a handful of gripes can be seen as well. Overall, almost 85 percent say they would recommend the TV to a friend.

At this writing there is no staff review of the Insignia NS-L-42Q-10A at CNET, but there are a handful of owner reviews. Though none of the reports are extensive, most indicate that they are satisfied with the TV.
