While no expert thinks the 37-inch LG 37LH30 can compete with the top-performing LCD TVs, most say it offers advantages that are unique to its price. First and foremost are great colors and an extensive array of picture controls. In addition, the LG 37LH30 includes special modes that let professional calibrators and dedicated amateurs get things close to technical perfection. For everyone else, the Picture Wizard's built-in test patterns are easy to use and yield results that are almost as good. An anti-reflective screen is a big plus for those who plan to use the TV in a well-lit room. However, most also say that while the blacks are acceptable, they can't compare to the more expensive LCD TVs, and screen uniformity could be better. Of course, TVs with better blacks and better screen uniformity -- such as the 37-inch Samsung LN37B650 -- also cost a bit more than the LG 37LH30. Other screen sizes in the series include the 32-inch LG 32LH30, 42-inch 42LH30 and the 47-inch LG 47LH30; all should perform similarly.
We found some good professional feedback for the 37-inch LG 37LH30. At opposite end of the spectrum, TelevisionInfo.com's report is packed with technical details, while ConsumerReports.org offers just a few short paragraphs. However, both reviewers back their conclusions with solid testing. To balance things out, CNET tests LCD TVs and weighs in with a report on the LG 3LH30, providing a decent -- but not overwhelming -- level of detail. However, CNET bases its report on the site's evaluation of a larger screen size in the series. While there isn't a ton of user feedback, a few reports can be seen at Amazon.com.

1. CNET
Though based on a hands-on evaluation of the 42-inch version of the set, David Katzmaier says that the 37-inch LG 37LH30 should perform similarly. He adds that the TV offers some valuable extras -- like great color performance, extensive picture controls and a Picture Wizard that yields quality images without a professional calibration. Poor screen uniformity and blacks that fall short of more expensive LCD TVs are noteworthy negatives. The entire LG LH30 series makes CNET's list of best inexpensive LCD TVs.
Review: LG 37LH30, David Katzmaier, April 28, 2009
TelevisionInfo.com's reports are noteworthy for their high standards and extreme attention to detail. Surprisingly, the LG 37LH30's extensive color controls and Picture Wizard are not mentioned. While it's clear that the reviewer feels better options are available, he also says that at the right price, the LG 37LH30 is a solid "lower-end" LCD TV.

3. ConsumerReports.orgDetails/Subscribe
The LG 37LH30 is among the 37-inch LCD TVs tested by ConsumerReports.org. Though discussion is more detailed than usual, it still falls short of what's offered by many other reviewers. The clear ratings and rankings are helpful, but you need to be a subscriber to see those.

While the small number of user reviews here aren't enough to form a reliable impression of how well satisfied owners are with the LG 37LH30, they still provide some insight. Most give the TV a solid four- or five-star rating. One user laments the absence of a 120 Hz or faster refresh rate.
