Picture is streached sideways, November 5, 2009
I purchased this unit for my daughter. She likes it fine. However, people in the picture look to me like they are streached sideways. I have tried all of the possible aspect ratios and the problem is still there. I have not made a big deal out of it because I do not want my daughter to become dissatisfied. However, I thought that you should know.
Terrible Design, November 5, 2009

I am sure this TV would be more than I expected in every way. When I discovered I had to screw the stand into a tabletop or stand in order for the TV not to fall over that was unacceptable to me. I use a large antique bureau to put my TV's on and to wreak the beautiful solid walnut surface by inserting a screw was unthinkable. I wish I knew beforehand since it costed me $[...] to send it back. My daughter and I tried to think of other ways to secure the stand but it would have looked terrible.

LG= Life's Garbage, October 26, 2009
I have a 2 year old Lg Lcd that suddenly stopped working,no sound no picture. Life's garbage refused to help in ANY WAY.They produce and sell garbage.If you are thinking of buying an LG ,remember it will last only 2 years,then you have life's garbage.
We Like our New TV, October 22, 2009

This is our main TV and it has worked flawlessly for about a month now. The size was determined by the custom entertainment corner unit we had built a few years ago. 37" was the largest that would fit. It's good looking with nice fit and finish details. The delivery service Amazon provided was very good. They unpacked the unit and powered it up on the floor because I had not removed the very heavy big old tube TV. They installed batteries in the remote and turned on the set to assure the screen and sound were functioning. I connected it to my analog cable service (not HDTV) but was disappointed to see it had only one cable/antenna input. I was planning to get free HDTV from my local stations off my antenna. But that would have required me to install a separate switch to disconnect the cable and connect the antenna every time I wanted to get HDTV. I called my cable company to see if they would provide a DVR unit with HDMI output rather than the coax cable type. They could but only if I agreed to pay 3-4 dollars per month more for digital cable service. That was less than I expected so I setup an appointment to get it. Mean time we watched the analogue cable service. I was not impressed. I think the picture was less clear than my old TV. All thoughts of returning the unit disappeared as soon as the digital cable was connected. Picture quality is now excellent! I am very happy with the set over all. Sound quality is also very good. Controls are a little complicated but it is easy to learn the basics and it works well with the Cable's DVR and remote.

MY FIRST LG TV AND HAPPY WITH PRODUCT, October 16, 2009
This is my first LG TV purchase (all of my last 5 tv purchases have been Vizio which I consider to have high standards and have not had any problems with them). To date I have found this TV picture clear, menu easy to use and I did purchase a square trade warranty - just in case!

Our Sources

1. CNET

Though based on a hands-on evaluation of the 42-inch version of the set, David Katzmaier says that the 37-inch LG 37LH30 should perform similarly. He adds that the TV offers some valuable extras -- like great color performance, extensive picture controls and a Picture Wizard that yields quality images without a professional calibration. Poor screen uniformity and blacks that fall short of more expensive LCD TVs are noteworthy negatives. The entire LG LH30 series makes CNET's list of best inexpensive LCD TVs.

2. TelevisionInfo.com

TelevisionInfo.com's reports are noteworthy for their high standards and extreme attention to detail. Surprisingly, the LG 37LH30's extensive color controls and Picture Wizard are not mentioned. While it's clear that the reviewer feels better options are available, he also says that at the right price, the LG 37LH30 is a solid "lower-end" LCD TV.

3. ConsumerReports.org

The LG 37LH30 is among the 37-inch LCD TVs tested by ConsumerReports.org. Though discussion is more detailed than usual, it still falls short of what's offered by many other reviewers. The clear ratings and rankings are helpful, but you need to be a subscriber to see those.

4. Amazon.com

While the small number of user reviews here aren't enough to form a reliable impression of how well satisfied owners are with the LG 37LH30, they still provide some insight. Most give the TV a solid four- or five-star rating. One user laments the absence of a 120 Hz or faster refresh rate.
