Though it uses a conventional, cold-cathode florescent light backlight, reviews rave about the black levels produced by Samsung's LNB750 series of LCD HDTVs, including the 46-inch LN46B750. One reviewer puts the black levels on a par with the much more expensive 46-inch Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR8 (Discontinued), which uses an LED backlight and local dimming technology to produce blacks that rival those of plasma TVs. Colors and uniformity are excellent for an LCD TV. Ample controls are available for those who enjoy tweaking picture quality. The TV offers a 240 Hz refresh rate -- the highest currently available -- though experts say it doesn't notably reduce picture blur compared with 120 Hz TVs. Energy efficiency is excellent and styling is attractive, with a Touch of Color bezel that uses a subtle grey tone instead of the controversial red found on other Samsung TVs, such as the step-down 46-inch LN46B650. Other screen sizes in the Samsung LNB750 series include the 52-inch Samsung LN52B750 and 40-inch Samsung LN40B750.
Professional reviews of the Samsung LN46B750 aren't widespread as of yet, but CNET produces an excellent report on the LNB750 series based on hands-on testing of the 52-inch version. User reviews are more plentiful and you can see lots of them at Amazon.com and BestBuy.com. The Samsung LNB750 series is also the subject of discussion and an extensive owners' thread at AVSForum.com.

1. CNET
CNET bases its review of the 46-inch Samsung LN46B750 on a hands-on evaluation of the 52-inch TV in the series, but notes that aside from screen size, specifications are identical, so performance should be the same. Though the site rates Samsung UNB7000 LED backlit LCD TVs higher, David Katzmaier says that they are outperformed by the LN46B750 (and other TVs in the series) in many areas, including black levels and picture uniformity. However, he dislikes the reflective screen treatment and adds that the benefits of the 240 Hz refresh rate are hard to see.
