Critics say that the 47-inch Vizio SV472XVT delivers a rare blend of value and performance. Picture quality -- most notably black levels -- can't quite come up to the very best, but doesn't miss by all that much, meaning that all but the pickiest of viewers will likely be thrilled by what they see on the screen. Additionally, the SV472XVT is free from some common problems seen with LED backlit sets, namely blooming and uneven screen uniformity.

The feature lineup is robust. The 47-inch Vizio SV472XVT lacks 3D features, but just about every other hot feature for this year is present. Internet features are impressive, and experts say they are notable for not just their variety but for the fact that Vizio makes using those features easier than most competing TVs. Built-in Wi-Fi is of course a plus. Even the infrared/Bluetooth remote seems to be designed with Internet access in mind as it includes a slide-out keypad. One surprising omission is that the SV472XVT lacks a USB port, which means you can't plug in a thumb drive, digital camera or music player to view photos or videos, or listen to tunes, and the lack of Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) compatibility means you can't stream that media from your PC either. As an alternative, the LG 47LE8500 (Discontinued) has feature line up that's just as rich, includes a USB port and DLNA compatibility, and draws raves for its picture quality and dark blacks. However it is also more expensive. A 55-inch version of this Vizio LCD TV, the VF552XVT (Discontinued), is also available.

The most comprehensive review of the Vizio SV472XVT is at CNET, which provides a testing-based report and a good amount of discussion. ConsumerReports.org also looks at this TV; but while testing is done, discussion is limited. User reviews are available at Amazon.com and Walmart.com.
