Among small-screen TVs, the 23-inch Vizio VM230XVT Razor is a standout for its good picture quality and surprising features. This LCD TV uses an edge-lit LED backlight for picture quality that's not in the same league as big-screen powerhouses, but that's very, very good for a TV in this screen size. The 1080p resolution might be overkill if all you want to do is watch TV, but is a plus if you want the VM230XVT to pull double duty as a computer monitor. Some quibbles are noted, including limited viewing angles -- particularly in the vertical direction -- and a reflective screen. Some user reports say that early runs of the TV had some defects, but add that most have been addressed with firmware patches.

Considering its price and screen sizes, the 23-inch Vizio VM230XVT has a bit going for it. The thin chassis, less than an inch if you don't count the base, means that the VM230XVT won't be an imposing presence in a smaller space such as a bedroom or dorm room. Audio quality isn't top-notch, but the inclusion of technology to even out volume levels between programs is appreciated. The ability to play back photos from an attached USB device in a slide-show format might tickle the fancy of some. Value should tickle the fancy of most, since it's priced competitively with less feature-packed though still solidly performing entry-level TVs, such as the 22-inch LG 22LD350.

Though TVs in this screen size are only rarely reviewed by experts, HDTVSolutions.com weighs in with a thorough hands-on report. User reviews can be found at Walmart.com and Amazon.com.
