The report clearly identifies pluses and minuses, and the set's Editors' Rating accurately puts it in context against what else is available. HDTVSolutions.com doesn't cover nearly as many LCD TVs as CNet.com, but adds many great insights about the Vizio VO47L.
Reviewers say if you demand the very best image quality, the 47-inch Vizio VO47L FHDTV is unlikely to satisfy. But if value is an important consideration, this 1080p LCD TV is an excellent choice. While the image quality -- particularly black levels -- certainly falls short of the top-rated TVs, most critics say it is still very good. If you have a little more to spend, the 46-inch Samsung LN-46A550 (*est. $1,500) draws lots of praise for its good performance and relatively reasonable price. If you have a lot more money to spend, the feature-packed Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR4 (*est. $2,500) produces an image that ranks among the best of all LCD TVs.

The Vizio VO47L FHDTV has accurate primary colors, good uniformity and good adjustability, but blacks are not as deep as on more expensive LCD panels and the decline in off-angle performance is noticeable, according to reviewer David Katzmaier. Still, the relatively inexpensive Vizio VO47L is a good value, he says. CNet.com tests many televisions and its reviews tend to be quite critical. The Vizio VO47L FHDTV earns this site's top 5-star rating for value; its other scores are good as well. The Vizio has a "friendly" operation combined with good features and a beautiful picture, De Jong says. The speakers are suitable for everyday TV watching, but black levels and performance with SD material are mediocre.
