For a quick daily once-over on the driveway, patio or deck, reviewers and owners recommend the 18-volt cordless Black & Decker NS118. It doesn't vacuum leaves, but it's quiet and very light (only 5.5 pounds). The main drawback is that work sessions are limited to about 10 or 15 minutes, then the battery will need about three hours to recharge. If you have other Black & Decker nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery-powered tools, however, the batteries are interchangeable. The warranty is for two years. If you don't mind using a corded model, the Toro Power Sweep 51585 (*Est. $40) offers similar power for much less money.
