Bottom line

The eBags EXO Hardside Spinner 2pc Set appeals to travelers who want durable, lightweight luggage that's easy to maneuver. A few users wish the larger case, which measures just 24 inches tall on the inside, were a little bigger-- but most feel that it offers plenty of capacity, especially when paired with the carry-on. Spartan interior organization is best for those who use packing cubes. The lifetime guarantee includes damage caused by airlines.

Features

Don't forget the packing cubes. Both parts of the eBags EXO Hardside Spinner 2pc Set -- the 24-inch hard-side case and the smaller carry-on -- come with very basic internal organizers: a zip-around mesh compartment in the lid, an adjustable/removable divider and a five-point tie-down strap. This is perfect if you use packing cubes, although even packing cube devotees find themselves wishing for at least one small quick-access pocket for stowing tickets, identification and other items in the carry-on.

Other features include four dual-wheel casters and a built-in, TSA-approved combo lock on each suitcase.

Durability

No matter what, it's covered. Most reviewers agree that both components of the eBags EXO Hardside Spinner 2pc Set stand up to abuse well: "This is the most rugged suitcase I've ever seen and used in my life," writes one reviewer at Amazon.com. Outside magazine's Ted Alan Stedman agrees, writing that the larger suitcase is "the most durable and versatile spinner we've ever tested." Its ribbed, textured surface hides signs of abuse, the handles are durable and the #10 self-healing coil zipper holds its own. On the occasion that an airline does damage your bag, it's still covered by eBags' lifetime warranty.

Appearance/style

Hard to miss -- unless it runs off. Testers with Outside magazine report that the 24-inch suitcase component of the eBags EXO Hardside Spinner 2pc Set is very maneuverable on smooth surfaces, although cobblestones are still a challenge. Also, as Gadling.com's Pam Mandel points out, the lack of a wheel brake means these spinners can take off without you if left on an incline. At least they're easy to spot, thanks to seven eye-catching colors -- and the handles extend enough that even 6-foot-plus owners have no problem maneuvering the smallest bag. A few wish for more storage space, but most say the combined 7,158-cubic-inch capacity is plenty.
