The 3.1-cubic-foot Avanti RA317 is a two-door, counter-high, compact refrigerator with a separate freezer section. While this configuration does allow for improved freezer performance, it also reduces the total capacity. Compared to other counter-high models, the Avanti's capacity is about 1.5 cubic feet less. It includes plenty of extra features, such as automatic defrost, a humidity-controlled crisper, can dispenser, 2-liter bottle storage, reversible door and adjustable shelving. This mini refrigerator is available in black with stainless-steel doors (RA317SST), black (RA316BT) and white (RA315WT). It is not Energy Star-rated and uses approximately 339 kWh per year. Another two-door mini fridge, the Sunpentown RF-320 (Discontinued), costs nearly the same and receives excellent reviews from owners posting comments to retailer websites.
Although the Avanti RA317 is recommended by Bestcovery.com and CollegeDormIdeas.com, it has not been subjected to professional tests. We found only one owner review for this model, at CompactAppliance.com.

More buyer's guide than review, this article from CollegeDormIdeas.com nonetheless recommends three compact refrigerators, among them the Avanti RA317. No testing appears to have been performed.
