The 4.3-cubic-foot GE Spacemaker GMR04AAM mini fridge is a counter-height compact refrigerator with an enclosed freezer section in the refrigerator compartment. It comes in two finishes: white and the proprietary CleanSteel. Both models are otherwise identical and include a variety of shelving options, including three adjustable, removable shelves and in-door tall-bottle storage and can dispenser. The freezer compartment is a bit larger than in most mini fridges, and owners say it is roomy enough to hold three or four ice trays, but (as with all compact refrigerators) the freezer performs poorly in tests, so ice cubes will take a long time to freeze. This compact refrigerator is not Energy Star-rated and uses approximately 345 kWh per year. If you want a more effective freezer, the Sunpentown RF-320 (*Est. $260) is more expensive but includes a separate freezer that owners say works very well.
The GE Spacemaker GMR04 is included in ConsumerReports.org' refrigerators roundup, and is chosen as the best mini fridge for dorms by Bestcovery.com's Mariette Mifflin. We also found owner reviews for this model at ABT.com, HomeDepot.com and AJMadison.com.
